Montreal, Canada – February 26, 2010 SAND Technology Inc. (OTCBB: SNDTF.OB), an international provider of intelligent information management software and best practices, has again been included in Gartner’s recent Magic Quadrant for Data Warehouse Database Management Systems. The Magic Quadrant is a representation of the data warehouse DBMS market that evaluates vendors based on their completeness of vision and ability to execute.

“We are pleased and honored to be included in Gartner’s Magic Quadrant,” said Linda Arens, Vice President, Global Alliances and Marketing for SAND Technology. “In my opinion, this demonstrates that SAND continues to be acknowledged as a significant player in the data warehousing market, based on our success in helping customers in a range of industries enhance their competitiveness by reducing data infrastructure and administration costs, while improving their ability to respond quickly to rapidly changing business requirements.”

SAND/DNA enables enterprise customers in all industries to cost-effectively retain massive amounts of compressed data in a nearline repository for extended periods, in accordance with any applicable business rules and regulatory requirements, and to rapidly retrieve information when needed. A centralized data management solution with unparalleled performance and storage efficiency, the SAND/DNA suite dramatically reduces costs and management complexity while ensuring continuous data availability. Organizations can create data marts on demand to respond to any analytic requirement with all enterprise data — current or historical, detailed or summarized. SAND/DNA’s advanced information management technology compresses data to typically 10 percent of its original size, while giving users the ability to query any attributes of the data without decompressing it first. This next-generation capability is ideal for satisfying enterprise compliance requirements as well as for leveraging valuable information in data warehouses

Montreal, November 26, 2009: SAND Technology Inc. (OTCBB:SNDTF), an international provider of data management software and best practices, today reported a loss for the year ended July, 31, 2009 of $1,191,695 on revenues of $7,049,237 compared with a loss of $1,271,950 on revenues of $6,998,472 for the fiscal year 2008. All figures are in Canadian dollars.

“Given the economic times we’ve faced this last year, SAND is satisfied that it did not fare far worse than it did. The downturn in the economy caused tremendous anxiety, far more cautious spending and massive budget cuts among our potential and existing customers. More importantly, during the last year, we have had several significant successes in closing key deals as well as expanding our presence within our existing customer base and in the critical SAP Nearline marketplace,” explained Arthur Ritchie, Chairman of SAND. “Given the changes in management at key customers, combined with the mergers and takeovers and cutbacks among large customers in key industries, we see significant opportunities for SAND. What is of major importance is the strides we’ve made in becoming a strategic partner with several industry leading customers and influencers over the last year. We strongly believe that SAND products are an enabling technology which can help our customers bridge the gap between their existing and target architectures without having to “rip and replace” existing systems and as a result to ensure smooth transitions, increase efficiency and substantial costs savings. As importantly, our solutions will provide meaningful insight to the management decision-making process critical during these changing times. This is becoming more evident based on the new business we are attracting directly from our customers and indirectly through our systems integrators and application vendors.”

Montreal, Canada — September 29, 2009 — SAND Technology Inc. (OTCBB: SNDTF.OB), an international provider of data management software and best practices, announced today that a leading global chemical company has adopted the SAND/DNA Nearline solution for SAP NetWeaver® Business Warehouse (SAP NetWeaver BW) as part of a project to maintain the efficiency, performance and cost-effectiveness of the company’s SAP NetWeaver BW data warehouse in the face of rapid data growth. Implemented as an extension to the existing system, SAND/DNA will substantially reduce the storage requirements for steadily growing volumes of SAP NetWeaver BW data, enabling more efficient performance of standard data management operations while helping to keep operational and maintenance costs at a manageable level.

An important SAP NetWeaver BW warehouse at the chemical company was growing at a rate of a terabyte every quarter due to the addition of new applications, integration of data from new sources and new requirements for data to be available for longer periods. To manage this growth, the company decided to adopt an Information Lifecycle Management strategy as recommended by SAP, using a Nearline Storage (NLS) solution that would allow older, less frequently used data to be moved out of the main database while still keeping it accessible for reporting purposes when required. They chose the software-based SAND/DNA Nearline solution on the basis of its high rates of data compression and anticipated storage cost savings, as well as the performance benefits that would result from substantially reduced database size. Since its implementation in their production environment, the SAND/DNA solution has brought improved data loading and reporting performance, heightened system availability due to reduced downtime for backup and restore operations, better data availability, and reduced storage costs.

“We are extremely pleased to have this chemical company as a customer”, said Linda Arens, Vice President, Marketing for SAND Technology. “Like most large organizations in all industries, they are experiencing an explosion in the amounts of data they need to manage in their data warehouses. The SAND/DNA Nearline solution allows them to cope with this very rapid data growth while preserving operational performance and keeping costs down – and without disturbing their existing SAP NetWeaver BW environment.”

As data volumes grow and user demands intensify, SAP NetWeaver BW users are facing significant data management challenges and increased costs. In accordance with SAP’s recommended Information Lifecycle Management (ILM) strategy, SAND Technology has teamed with SAP to integrate SAND/DNA software as a nearline solution for SAP NetWeaver BW 7.0. Designed to relieve SAP NetWeaver BW 7.0 from the need to keep large amounts of infrequently used data in the online repository, the SAND/DNA Nearline solution stores this data in a tiny footprint while maintaining easy data accessibility. The data is stored in an easily searchable but highly compressed format which significantly reduces overheads and costs typically associated with retaining considerable amounts of historical data.

(OTCBB: SNDTF.OB), an international provider of data management software and best practices, announced today that an outsourced IT services group has adopted the SAND/DNA nearline solution for SAP NetWeaver® Business Warehouse (SAP NetWeaver BW). The SAND/DNA solution has been implemented as part of a project to more efficiently and cost-effectively manage growing amounts of data in the company’s SAP NetWeaver BW data warehouse and optimize operational performance. It will allow the company to reduce the amount of storage required to house steadily growing amounts of data, while keeping operational and maintenance costs under control.

The customer currently has approximately 6 TB of data, with annual growth projected at 1TB. They needed to keep their data warehouse costs at the budgeted level while maintaining on-demand access to any data that might be required. Because the company outsources their IT infrastructure, the IT services group was also looking for a solution that would reduce the amount of storage required to hold the data while keeping it easily accessible. The software-based SAND/DNA Nearline solution was chosen because of its ability to store very large amounts of data in a highly compressed format while maintaining easy accessibility, leading to reduced storage requirements and optimal system performance for standard data management tasks.

“We are very pleased that we continue to sign new customers in a variety of industries”, said Linda Arens, Vice President, Marketing for SAND Technology. “This confirms that organizations continue to face challenges in managing large, continuously growing amounts of data, and are turning to SAND to help solve these issues efficiently and cost-effectively.”

This next-generation capability is ideal for satisfying enterprise compliance requirements as well as for leveraging valuable information in data warehouses.

Thomas Cook Group UK & Ireland, part of one of the world’s leading travel groups, gains four fold performance improvement for complex queries and near linear scalability using the SAND/DNA software solution on Sun hardware.

Montreal, Canada August 4, 2009 — SAND Technology Inc. (OTCBB:SNDTF), an international provider of data management software and best practices, today announced that Thomas Cook Group UK & Ireland, part of one of the world’s leading travel groups, has successfully migrated its holiday search engine application based on SAND/DNA technology to a new Sun blade server environment. The system went live during a peak usage period, and immediately delivered a four-fold performance improvement for complex searches and heavy real-time update processes of the company’s holiday database.

While Thomas Cook’s SAND/DNA system has functioned continuously without failure since its initial implementation in 2001, replatforming to a Sun blade server running the Sun Solaris operating system enables the company to better support a vastly enlarged and continually growing number of online users. Specifically, because SAND/DNA performance tracks processor speed to offer near-linear scalability, the blade environment will enable them to take full advantage of advances in processing technology to increase data throughput in the system.

“Thomas Cook UK & Ireland has worked with SAND since 2001, and its products provide the backbone of our Tour Operating systems. Following the merger with MyTravel and the major increase in growth and customer transactions, we were faced with a huge challenge to maintain an excellent level of system performance. With SAND Technology’s help we have succeeded in providing a resilient platform that will grow with the company and continue to provide our valuable customers with the service they have come to expect from us,” said Pat Norman, Director of IT at Thomas Cook UK & Ireland.

“We are very pleased to have worked so closely with Thomas Cook over the past eight years,” said Richard Grondin, SAND’s vice-president of R&D and Deployment. “SAND recommended that Thomas Cook move to a blade environment to achieve better performance, reduce their total cost of ownership and provide a ‘greener’ solution with a smaller storage footprint. SAND’s software solution on Sun delivers the performance improvements the company needs to serve its rapidly expanding market. Using this new environment, Thomas Cook can support over 3000 users and execute multiple millions of update requests per day while offering response times of less than 1 second in 99.5% of cases. These metrics clearly demonstrate that SAND/DNA’s CBAT technology can be used to support complex real-time analytic environments.”

“Thomas Cook UK & Ireland has been a valuable customer,” said Peter Olding, SAND’s UK Sales Director. “Working with Thomas Cook UK & Ireland, we continue to address ongoing challenges with increasing numbers of users and transactions that require high query performance, system availability, and data accessibility. We are very pleased that SAND is able to meet their demands and scale with them as their environment grows.”
